THERAPY

Counselling or psychotherapy can overlap, counselling oftern refers to shorter-term goal-oriented work, while psychotherapy involves longer-term work that explores issues in greater depth. I work with individuals a using both models and am guided by what you are able to commit to – emotionally, practially and financially.

As an Integrative therapist, I have trained in and draw upon a range of thinking, ideas and techniques, and adapt them to what I feel is best suited to you. These include the Person Centred, Attachment based psychoanalysis, CBT and Mindfulness practices. I have an interest in somatic experience and I draw on the wealth of information the body is communicating to you as an individual, providing connection to deeper understanding of your unconscious responses.

Regardless of approach studies have consistently shown that it is the quality of the relationship between therapist and client that produces the most positive outcomes. Once you get in touch I offer a free 30 minute consultation at my practice rooms in Frome or online. I hope our initial meeting would allow you to talk freely about what brought you to me, along with any goals you may wish to achieve, and any questions you may have about the therapy process. Importantly, you will experience what I’m like and how I work. In turn, I would explain more about my way of working, as wall as my policy on confidentiality, cancellations and appointment times.

If we agree to work together, we may then work out for how long – it may be just a few sessions or on an open-ended basis. It is helpful to layout out a time-frame together from the beginning but nothing is set in stone and we can always review the work as it unfolds.

I am a relational therapist so I don’t ask you to lie in a coach (unless you want to!) and I am not a blank screen but hope to be in dialogue with you, you are welcome to bring material that may be useful for you to share – drawings, dreams or journals.
